江戸時代中頃に、人口100万を擁する大都市へと成長した江戸。人々は「花の御江戸」「大江戸」などと称して、その繁栄を寿ぎました。江戸に暮らした武士や町人たちは、この地の何を誇り、自慢としたのでしょうか。
泰平の世における武家の道具、相撲・歌舞伎・吉原の賑わい、流行を生んだ出版文化、頻発する火災に立ち向かった火消、趣味や学問を介した文化人たちの交遊――。選りすぐりの逸品と初出品資料を軸に、都市「大江戸」の魅力に迫ります。

- On the third Wednesday of every month (Silver Day), special exhibition admission is free of charge for those over 65 years old. Please present proof of your age.
- Junior high school, High school, university, and technical school students are required to present a student ID card, and those aged 65 and over are required to present proof of age (health insurance card, driver’s license, etc.).
- Tickets are available for purchase at the Edo-Tokyo Museum.
