Permanent Exhibition Volunteer Guide
Permanent Exhibition Volunteer Guide service will be out of operation for the time being.
①Guides will wear masks.(also face shields accordingly)
②Guiding time is about 15 minutes. ※Guide tour will not be conducted for the time being whereas guides can offer you abstract of the museum at the Permanent Exhibition entrance.
③Due to limited number of guides, language request may not be always accepted. ※Please use audio guide service instead.
④Maximum number of guests per group is 4.
⑤No reservations accepted for the time being.

Permanent Exhibition Audio Guide Rental
9:30–17:00(Until 19:00 on Saturdays) Visitors can listen to an explanation of the permanent exhibition using a headphone receiver.
A refundable deposit will be required. (Audio guides are available in Japanese, English, Chinese(Simplified), Chinese(Traditional), Korean, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Thai, Portuguese and Malay.)
※Rental location:6th-floor Audio Guide Rental Counter. (return to 5th-floor Audio Guide Return Counter)
※Security deposit ¥1,000. The deposit will be refunded.

The room is equipped with baby bed. Please feel free to use it. (The baby bed is on the 1st floor only.)

Coin Lockers
(free; deposit a ¥100 coin, which is returned after use) The coin lockers are 40 cm high, 35 cm wide and 43 cm deep.
Large bags can be deposited at the information counter on the 1st floor.
Requests from the Museum
Long umbrellas cannot be taken into the exhibition areas. Please leave umbrellas at the umbrella stand.
Large baggage cannot be taken into the exhibition areas. Please leave it in the coin-return lockers or at the information counter on the 1st floor.
Running and frolicking on or near escalator or stairs or in the exhibition areas are prohibited because it is dangerous and bothersome to other visitors.
Eating and drinking (including candy, gum and soft drinks) in the exhibition areas are prohibited. Please use the lounges on the 3rd floor.
In case of emergency, follow the instructions of the staff and emergency broadcasts.

The entire building is closed.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum was opened in 1993 and has been in operation for about 30 years. During this time, the museum's facilities and equipment have deteriorated over the years, and the museum will be closed for major renovations, including a complete renewal of equipment and facilities.
