During the long period of peace that characterized the Edo Period (1603-1868), animals were involved in people’s lives in various different ways. Some animals were kept by people, while others worked alongside people, and still others lived in nature, making for a rich and diverse range of activities.
This exhibition, which was developed by the museum’s curators, introduces the history and culture of the lives of people and animals, through the collection at the Edo-Tokyo Museum. We hope you will also enjoy the original exhibits at the venue.
