This is a library dedicated to the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo.
Located on the 7th floor of the museum, it is open to everyone free of charge.

- Some materials are stored in an off-site warehouse and must be reserved in advance.
For details, please see the library's Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). - Only materials in our library collection are available for copying, within the scope of the Copyright Act. A maximum of 100 copies per person is allowed. For requests of 20 copies or more, delivery may be staggered. Additionally, we may decline requests depending on the condition of the materials.

If you are considering donating books, please read and understand the following conditions.
- Donated books must be related to the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo and must not already be in the library.
- If shipping costs are incurred, they will be borne by the donor.
- Please leave the decision on whether to accept items for the library collection to the library staff.
In addition, we will not respond to individual inquiries regarding registration, shelving status, etc. - If you would like to donate a large number of books at once, please contact us in advance.
- As a general rule, we will forgo sending acknowledgment letters and will not return the books.
(If you need an acknowledgement letter, please let us know.) - We do not accept e-books.
Guidelines for Use
- Please leave all your belongings except for valuables and writing instruments in the lockers.
- Writing boards and a video magnifier are available. Please ask at the Library Service Desk if you wish to use them.
- For archival purposes, only pencils may be used as writing instruments.
- No knives or similar items are permitted. Please use the pencil sharpener provided at the Library Service Desk.
- Please use cell phones only outside the library.
- Use of the library for purposes other than browsing materials (e.g., resting, eating, studying for exams, etc.) is not permitted.
- Please refrain from any activities that may disturb others.
