In January 2014, a major special exhibition of ukiyo-e prints was held in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the opening of the museum, which presented some outstanding pieces of significance in the history of ukiyo-e prints. This second exhibition will focus on five beloved ukiyo-e print artists: Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, Hokusai Katsushika, Hiroshige Utagawa, and Kuniyoshi Utagawa. In addition to works held in Japanese collections, several leading nishiki-e (colored woodblock prints) works by these artists from the collections of Western museums, galleries, and personal collections will also be on display.
Exhibition period: Tuesday, November 19, 2019 to Sunday, January 19, 2020
Days Closed: Mondays (however, exhibition will be open January 13, 2020), and from Saturday, December 28, 2019, to Wednesday, January 1, 2020 (public holiday)
